What is a Slipform Paver

2026-04-17 0 Blog

A slipform paver is a piece of concrete construction machinery with its own mould, which forms structures while moving forward. It does not require pre‑erected formwork or precast components. Concrete is directly vibrated and compacted inside the machine, then extruded into shape. As the machine advances, finished structures such as road surfaces, curbs and ditches are completed in one pass.

In simple terms

It works like a moving mould:Concrete is fed into the front → compacted by internal vibration → extruded as shaped concrete at the rear → the machine moves forward, leaving the finished product in place.

Main applications

  1. Highway pavements: full paving of cement concrete surfaces for expressways and national roads

  2. Curbs and road shoulders: one‑pass forming of kerbs and anti‑collision edges

  3. Drainage ditches and canals: U‑shaped ditches, trapezoidal ditches and farmland irrigation canals

  4. Anti‑collision guardrails, water barriers and other road accessories

Core features

  • No formwork erection or removal required

  • Continuous construction without joints

  • High forming speed, smooth alignment and high strength

  • Suitable for large‑area, long‑distance projects
